How to Jailbreak iPhone Models X and Below Using a PC (Alternate Method)

This guide applies to the following iPhones (X, 8+, 8, 7+, 7, SE, 6S+, 6S, 6+, 6, 5S)

You Will Need

  1. A USB flash drive of at least 512MB in size
  2. A 64-bit or 32-bit AMD or Intel PC. If you don’t know if you have this, here’s how to find out.
  3. An internet connection
  4. The iPhone you wish to Jailbreak on hand, as well as the iPhone’s lock screen passcode if it has one
  5. A cable to connect the iPhone to the computer

Step 1 — Download the Jailbreak Tool

Download the correct version of the tool for your device using the link below. This should anywhere from 1-5 minutes depending on the speed of your internet connection
  1. Download for 64-bit PC
  2. Download for 32-bit PC

Step 2 — Install the Jailbreak Tool onto your USB Flash drive

Next we need to install the Jailbreak Tool onto your USB Flash Drive. To do this, we need to download our special USB Configuration Tool called Rufus.

Note that in this step, all data previously on the Flash Drive will be lost, so if there’s something important you want to save, please transfer it to a safe location on your PC before continuing.
  1. Download and open the USB Configuration Tool. Click here
  2. Now we need to point Rufus to the Jailbreak Tool file you downloaded in step one. To do this
    1. press SELECT
    2. Find and open the jailbreak tool file.
      (This will likely be in your download folder. The filename will begin with ‘bootra1n’ and will end with the file extension of .ISO)
    3. press START to flash it to your USB drive.

Step 3 — Run The Jailbreak Tool

We’re nearly there!

Next, we need to Run the Jailbreak Tool. To do this, we will be Rebooting the PC, and entering the PC BIOS boot menu.
  1. Restart your PC. During the initial loading screen press the key that opens the BIOS’s boot menu for your computer (such as ESC, F2/F10/F12 keys) or refer to the table below.

    *If your computer model is not listed above. You can Google your ‘PC Model’ followed by “how to enter BIOS boot menu” / “how to change boot order”?  

  2. Once your inside the BIOS, select and highlight the USB drive, this should boot into the login prompt.
    1. If this does not happen automatically you may have to change the boot order of your PC by following the instructions below

  3. You now need to login to the tool
    1. Type anon then press enter
    2. For the password type voidlinux then press enter
      (Please note that this password may be invisible when you type it out so make sure you input the password correctly then hit ENTER)
  4. At the $ prompt that appears, type sudo checkra1n then press enter

  5. The Checkra1n Jailbreaking wizard should now appear. Follow the interactive wizard to complete the Jailbreak.

  6. At the end of the process, the phone will reboot. If you see Cydia and the Checkra1n app on the phone this means that the phone has been jailbroken successfully - regardless of any error codes that may appear on the PC (if any).
  7. You can then go on to Install FlexiSPY onto the iPhone per the instructions inside your Portal.
If the phone has not been jailbroken successfully, you can refer to the troubleshooting list below: 


  1. Error -71: Use the (USB Safe) option in the boot menu.
  2. Error -77: Remove your passcode before starting the jailbreak, you can set it back once done.
  3. Error -78: Exit checkra1n and double-check you entered sudo checkra1n
  4. Secure Boot Errors: You can disable Secure Boot in your BIOS settings.
  5. USB Errors: Try swapping cables and changing from USB 2.0 (black port) to 3.0 (blue port) and vice versa.
  6. Graphics Errors: Use the (Graphics Safe) option in the boot menu.
  7. ACPI Errors: On the boot menu, select RAM mode, then press TAB and add acpi=off nomodeset to the prompt..
